Not if they're on a safari ranch, captive bred and probably zoo surplus.

Giraffes are actually pretty common... i lost count how many i saw in just a 5 day safari in Kenya!

Doesnt mean i agree with it though... and they shoot much worse.
You can actually pay to go out to a ranch, choose what animal, i.e. lion, giraffe, rhino, alligator (im not kidding with any of these) and they will set it up for you so you can kill it. you then have a photo taken with the dead animal and some offer you a trophy of your kill at an extra price. I saw a documentary on it and was disgusted.
Its all aimed at killing the 'big beasties!'.

On a different note, they actually farm giraffe and zebra etc in places like Kenya for meat and the like, ive eaten both and they taste very wierd! Giraffe almost melts in your mouth, not meat textured at all. I did feel awful the next day when i had to see the animals that id eaten the night before, but it was a once in a lifetime experience and i wouldnt have done it if they hadnt been farmed

I hate it when people hunt then dont eat it, thats my only problem with hunting. Whats the point in killing something, but then not eating it??? Its stupid
My dad, who lives in south africa hunts all the time (has 12 guns ATM) but then he makes them into sausages, steaks and biltong (its basically the 'original' beef jurkey). If you ever have the chance to eat Eland (a type of buck), it will and I almost garentee it will be the best steak youve ever had, my god its nice...He also has the world record for the water buck with the largest horns ever shot (which he ate BTW)

Eland is very nice (as is biltong). Anyway, the "worst" animal that hunter shot was certainly not the giraffe, but the Pere David's deer, which is critically endangered.
