Just noticed that there's no where on this site to share herping experiences
![]() Anyway thought I might set up a thread just for general chat about herping (a.k.a herp-watching). I'll start us off with an adorable gecko found in Algarve, Portugal. We think that its either a young Hemidactylus turcicus or a young Tarentola Mauritanica. It was so cute it fell on my hand while I was swimming in the pool in our backgarden in the villa. It must have been freezing because it sat on my finger for ages before it started moving again. Must have been really young only about 1 and a half inches long ![]() Anyway pic... ![]()

But this was last year. Although I've never been to Algarve and gone " Oh , it's clouding over!" so you've got a good chance of sunny weather.Look out for these geckos. We saw them EVERYWHERE, on the walls of the villa, by restaurants, etc, but if you want to spot them, wait till its nice and dark then look under lights on walls where they hang around waiting for moths and stuff to fly by.
