Default Packaging a Delicate Snake

I'm trying to arrange a courier to pick up a young ATB over 300 miles away, but the seller has never sent a snake, and thus has never packaged one - just like me.

The snake should be no bigger than 18" I would have thought, so I was thinking a small polybox should do the job with a heat pack attached to the lid. The polybox would sit in a larger cardboard box which is labeled - what would I fill the inside with, newspaper? Would it be stuffed in there to fill the whole polybox? I take it the snake would sit in some kind of sealed plastic box?

I'm clueless.

i would put a poly box inside card board box then a layer of scruched up newspaper balls *big* and then put snake in side a plastic box with air holes and 1 heat pack attatched to that lid then another layer of scrunched newspaper and another pack.

all u need to do is so it dont chuck around in the poly box.

Thanks.

So fill the box with large newspaper balls until the plastic box is secure, and tape a heat pack to the lid. I take it you put the tub in the middle and cover it with newspaper so the pack isn't in direct contact with the tub?

id make sure it needs a heat pack too as i think its worse for thr snake to warm and overheat then be colder and sleep therefore not be to stressed about whats going on around it .

The polybox with tonnes of scrunched paper always seems to work well. But the main thing is using a good reptile courier as they will know not to throw the box about.

Assuming that you're using a reputable courier with experience of transporting reptiles, why not contact them to ask what they'd advise? They presumably deal with this sort of situation on a regular basis and should be able to assist you.

As above the courier should be able to advise what they would recommend. Different couriers may recommend different things as the temps in the back of the van would vary van to van.

IMO the snake should be in a a pillow case or similar and that should be in a polybox surrounded by balls of scrunched up paper. Depending on time of day and the time the courier thinks the animal will be in the van a heat pack or similar may required (if heating cannot be supplied in transit) although these can be dangerous as some give off varying degrees of heat some can get to hot some are worthless.
