How long do these bulbs last? Also, any idea on the radius of the heat? I use 80W floods for heat at the moment in all of my vivs (varying numbers of them in each one) to disperse heat over a larger area, so would these bulbs do a similar thing? I think I was just worried by the "narrow-flood" description? Also, do you need to use a specific bulb holder?

The self ballasted UV lamps are guaranteed to put out usable UVB at 50wcm at 12" for 6 months, but we have lamps here that are 12 months old and still good. The Narrow Flood refers to the UV output, not sure how it correlates with the heat radius. TBH it's something I have never thought about.
They come in 100 watt and 160 watt models, but cannot be used on any sort of thermostat. They sit into a normal Edison screw fitting (rated to take the wattage).

I also sell (or will do soon) the 60watt Externally Ballasted Mega-Rays, same UV output but less heat, the advantage of these is they can be used in smaller vivariums, or used in conjunction with a heat source that can be used on a thermostat for more precise temperature control.
