Habu don`t know whether you`ve been asked this before but whats a yank doing on a uk forum?
Not that your input isn`t well informed ,balanced and of first hand experience. but why us the bickering brits when you could be on one of your PC american sites ,have i been rhetorical? Keep on posting ,first hand experience is valuable. G

i always liked the british. their history, their wit, their ability to effectively utilize 3 syllable words in their daily speech. i like their inherent toughness and their talent for making otherwise insane situations seem routine. of course this mostly comes from my admittedly sporatic exposure to the culture through history, films and so on. i like america and am glad i am one but as our nation springs directly from the british empire and my people are direct descendants of colonial america, i feel an affinity toward the kingdom.
i've seen the other forums around and they seem either stale or pretentious. you guys kick it around a lot and enjoy some banter. i enjoy being able to talk to people who are a bit different from me. you can never really see any 3 dimensional object unless you look at it with different perspectives. i get to possibly help some younger folks or people that are new to the hobby with a problem or two. that's fullfilling to me.also 90% of the people are friendly here. i've got to know them in a way. that's cool. i might be a little odd in the way i do things or unorthodox, but maybe it sometimes gets people to look at something in a different way. i know i'm sounding sappy but i wouldn't be here at all if i didn't enjoy the members and the dialogue. living here is a little crazy sometimes. some have compared america to rome. that's not an entirley unfounded observation. sometimes the madness and decadence here gets tiresome. of course, you guys can be a motely group too. but at least it's different from all that is around here. logging onto the forum is like a mini vacation. i get to do a little traveling without buying a ticket.

never been there. if i had joined the u.s. army, well those lucky bums always go to europe. we jarheads are sent to okinawa mostly. i would have seen all of europe if i'd joined the army...but that would be asking a lot!!
