Default A viv question =)

Hey guys, well I recentally got a corn, she's loverly, she's a nice size (5+ft) and is really good to handle, but she's very protective while in her viv, if i reach in to get her out, she will just go mental, whiping her tail, ect.. I don't let any of this bother me, afterall I'm still about 50X her size, but I'm pretty sure that's gotta be stressful for the snake, she's 7 years old, so she's getting on, and I want to give her a nice quiet life, I'm not sure what's happened in her past to make her this way, Ive only just got her, anyways I was wondering if the reason for her being protective is actually the viv size, she is in a MASSIVE viv, 4ft long, 3ft high, 2ft deep, thats kinda big for a corn, may even be a BCI kinda tank, I have read that big vivs can make a snake go a little aggressive and protective, so maybe if I tub her she'll feel more secure?
really useful tubs seem pretty cool, cheap and seem to handle heat well, but would a 64L or a 80L hold a adult corn snake, happily?

I generally try to keep all my snakes in vivs, but the material of the enclosure really does not matter as long as the snake has room to exercise and is healthy and happy, so I really do think a nice size tub would make her a little laid back : )

thanks for reading, all suggestions are welcome, either pm or post

50L or above RUB is fine for a corn, it may not stop it happening though, she's simply acting like a snake, how she's programmed to act.

If she is 7yrs old she is in the prime of life! Corns can live for 20 years, so she is no way getting on. The viv may be a little big for her, or maybe she has not had a lot of handling, or perhaps she is just like that anyway! Downsizing may help, though, and is worth a try.

just use a snake hook to get her out.. minimum fuss that way.
with time you prolly wont need it but even if you do atleast its as little stress for both of you as possible.
