It is clear that Dan has some sort of personal interest in scales and fangs!

I could not disagree more that Noahs ark are often dirty, they have the cleanest shop and tanks about, all there reptiles are captive breed. Not the spiders but then whos are?
The staff may not be the best regarding the rare stuff but then Noahs ark have never been selling stuff like that so its no big deal that there not too knowledgeable on them.

Wiltons why would you not buy there? Paul is very good, knows his stuff and has the connections to get almost anything you’re looking for. Most of there stock is wild caught which means they can keep down the prices. Although they may not always be the healthiest of animals in there, I do not think Paul would sell a half dead one.

Cold blooded again is in excellent shop always busy, knowledgeable and keen to assist. What more could you ask for.

Reptile masters, down sized somewhat and no longer importing the chameleons which is a big down size, I could agree with you that they have not got the cleanest store. But really nice people.

Now for Scales and fangs. Obviously, they are in a bit of financial trouble with the initial set up and have resorted to buying imperfect stock and slagging of other shops in order to gain business.
I went to see the store today and was disgusted with the state of the place, 5/6 baby bearded dragons no tails at all some with missing legs and open wounds were too many had been housed together and nipping had and still was happening. Removed from sale?? Of course not…
There was about 4 plastic cricket tubs containing 4 leos each . The tubs had been placed inside a viv with Leos having access to no water of food. As if this was not bad enough, I was then approached by a young kid who could not have been more than nine years old offering advice on keeping them.
I left very quickly after this.

I return home to find that Scales and fangs are slagging off the long term competition with post like seen on another thread.
I am in the process of writing to the local council regarding the state of the animals and the neglect of care that they appear to be receiving.

Anyone who has been too any of the stores mentioned in the post im sure will agree with me that they are great in there own ways.
I would also like to use the new store that has opened however if they continue to slag other off in this manner in sure they will cut off there connections very quickly and will not be around long.

I am not looking for this thread to turn into a heated debate but would like to know about peoples views and experiences on the stores mentioned or any other good ones for that matter.

Whoa dude! For the record when i visited Scales and Fangs everything was immaculate. Moreso than any other reptile shop I've seen elsewhere TBH.

Cold Blooded is my fav, good selection of animals and friendly service/good discounts for me too.

I'd agree with what's be said for the rest of them

Try paying a visit to Jungle Phase if you haven't already!

I dont think its a good thing most of there stock is wild caught, as alot of what they stock is about captive breed. I was just trying to poont out why they appear to be cheaper than the other about.

Scales and fangs might be a good store but from the condition of the animals TODAY i would not be rushing back there.

I do wish them all the best and do hope they do well, But i would urge them not to say thing like they have about there compition as we do go to the other stores and know what there actually like.

The other stores have been there for ages and can handle a few bad comments being hurled at them.. for a new store trying to get started they should not be trying to make waves.

I have been upto jungle phase but that was sometime ago, i should really make a new trip up there.

To be honest this seems like a personal vendetta against Scales And Fangs & Rob. Am I the only one thinking this could be another shop/breeder, trying to tarnish Rob's reputation, with the story above as some half assed sort of cover/defense!?

You cannnot slate a business reputation, unless you have physical proof. Ie pictures, videos etc etc. Otherwise the forum could be liable for your actions. which lets face it isn't fair!

Hi guys, may I take this oportunity to have a say on this matter.

Firstly, the condition of the animals, as already mentioned, I am pasionate about my animals and treat them all as my own. The Beardies that have been mentioned, there are 4 in total, they are babies, no longer than 3 1/2 inches long, they are kept in an 18" wide x 24" deep viv which is one of my display vivs in the reptile room. Yes these beardies have nipped tails. There was 5 in there and were all in perfect condition. after a while I noticed a couple of tails had been nipped, they had their food increased but one morning I came in and found they had all had their tails nipped exept one, which was the biggest one, I wittnessed him have a pop at one of the other and he was removed immediatly. The injured babies were removed from sale and had their wounds treated, now they have cleared up, they have been advertised for sale again but at a reduced price for obvious reasons. They are very happy and healthy and are growning into lovely little dragons.

The Geckos, again, 5 juvanile leopards kept in the same size viv as the beardies, they have sufficient water supply that is changed every morning, there are 2 hollow logs for them to hide and climb on. Now then, those that know anything about Geckos will know that they can suffer with retaining skin on their toes and eyes. I have therefore placed 2 cricket tubs upside down with an opening in the front, they have a layer of moist sphagnam moss and the geckos can go in and out as they please, since I put these tubs in, they have not had a single problem with there shedding.

Dan, if you had approached me or the wife, we would have been happy to inform you of this, but since you decided to make the point here, it has given me the oportunity to explain to everyone and who knows, someone reading this might even adopt the same method for their own gecko.

As for the kid, she is my neice, she is 14 and as keen as mustard, it was her first time in the shop and was very excited and fell in love with all the animals (she hasn't stop pestering her mum for a snake) This is a family run business and will continue to bring family members here, especialy the kids so they have a good understanding of our hobby from a young age. Not sure what kind of advise she was offering seeing as she knows nothing about reptiles (which is why she'll be pestering her mum for a while longer) and doesn't pretend to, in fact she didn't stop asking us questions. Although I did hear her tell someone that asked to hold a rattle snake that it wasn't a good idea cos they can kill ya, IMO that was bloody good advice.

As for slagging off other shops, I would be interested to know what you have read or heard. I pride myself on the profesional attitude I maintain, that also applies to my wife and anyone that works for us. If anyone that represent Scales and Fangs has slagged off anyone, I will be speaking to that person and a personal appolagy will be sent to that person. So please let me know what has been said ASAP.

I would like to add one more thing, this is directed at Dirty Dan but applies to anyone that visits Scales and Fangs. If you had a problem with the way anything is done or by what you see going on in the shop, please speak to us and we can discuss it and if necasary, change things. I must say Dirty Dan I think they way you have gone about raising your concerns is very wrong, however, I would likie to invite you back to the shop to discuss thing further.

I would also like to thank all those that have spoken in our defence.

I think thats about it but there is anything to add, i'll re post.

regards

Rob.

Exactly the same as what we do with our leos and considering Diablo has 19 yrs experiance with keeping Leos id say your doing great Rob

I personally think that the OP needs te realise that they cant go round slating shops on here with out proof
Many threads have been created to shout about shops and closed in an instant. Personally now that Rob has had a chance to reply i think it should be closed.
