i - generally powercuts here last for about 20 mins max - i put sheets blankets - newspaper etc etc around the viv - completely coverign it - so it insuates and keeps the heat in

we had the same thing happen last year and we phoned the electric company and they sent a generater for us and picked it after they were done we only had a couple of snakes but what if the work takes a bit longer they didnt charge us.

Will see what EDF say about us borrowing a genny off them, since they're doing the work and it's all being arranged in advance.

No gas in the village, so a hot water bottle would only be as good as it lasts - only just thought of that one!

computer UPS' are handy to have although can be a bit expensive for long battery life. The cheaper ones only really give enough time to power everything down properly.

(a UPS is a backup battery source that you'd plug the lights / heat mats into and it keeps the power going.

edf our the people who gave us the generater we just said we had reptiles that needed heat and they dropped us one off and good thing too as 2 hours work turned out to be all day.like i said they didnt even charge us for it.
