If you place a piece of wood on the other side of the tub (so you drill through the tub into the wood) it shouldnt crack.
I dont drill any of mine though (because I would ruin them!) - I bought a cheap soldering iron from B&Q and melted the holes. It didnt leave black marks, just went through and left a nice melted hole with no sharp edges.

i use a solding iron
and it makes much neater holes than drilling... make sure you're in a ventilated place though.. it stinks!!! sami

we drill ours and only had one hole crack... should be fine if you use a piece of wood behind it

haha it's cold outside lol
but gonna do the next lot in the garage.. there's plug sockets in there when i did drill them (have carpal tunnel, which is getting worse, so i had to find a different way of doing it) i just had the drill on a low speed, and did it gently... and i only cracked one... and that was cuz i pressed too hard! sami
