Default buy what you see

has anyone else noticed the constant change in the range of animals everyone buys? I only really look at the lizard and tort section but Ive noticed that if someone put up a photo and info of a certain species then there is a huge burst in people buying up this species.
It happened a few months ago with tokays. very little was said about them for some time then some pics were posted and all of a sudden the classifieds and forums fill up with tokay talk and wanted adds and then not long later it cools off again. during this cooling off period tokays are put up for sale as the 'fad' has gone. But these going up for sale start it all up again!
Ive also noticed it with Ackies and Sulcata torts as well as stenos and pictus geckos although this was longer back.

im not saying it always happens and i have fallen into this catagory before its just something Ive noticed.
im not after an arguement just opinons please!
it seems to go along the lines of fashion to some extent as you see something you like and buy it. Ive since stopped impulse buying and have forced myself to plan at least a month or two ahead before buying an animal due to my impulse buying while i was yonger

Im sure a psychologist will be able to completely explain it but i definitely agree with it. One thing is in vogue, then it switches and people sell what they did have to keep with trends. It is a sad state of affairs, i much prefer keeping an animal for its life than chopping and changing between them.

Yes and No. I'd be lying if I said that some pics I have seen on here didn't influence some of my choices. My next planned purchase however is something I know a few users on here keep but not one that gets lots of pics posted up of it.
