Not really that macro compared to some of the other great pics on this thread, but here is one of my 7 & 1/2 month old torts, tearing into the stem of some sow thistle...T.T.

Default Older Photos - Tamron 90mm

Used Tamron 90mm (Canon fit) for these three shots

Greenwich Peninsular - last summer

Danum Valley, Borneo - summer before

Following all the threads on lenses I would still say this lens punches well above its price tag. It takes decent portraits too.

Love the MPE-65 (until you have had a play with one you will never know the tricky nature of the lens; manual focus only and minimal room for error with regard to DOF - more credit to those who produce great shots with it - MJ), but for shots that you do not have much time to set up I'd recommend this 90mm as a bargain.

Canon now do adaptors so that it can be used with their ring-flashes, or you can use a filter and a cokin ring to hold them on equally well.

Happy shootin!

llovley shots boipevassu,i dont like number 2..the pic is very noisy,..but pic 1 and 3 are really good..

mpe-65 like u said isnt an easy lens to use.getting a mix of dof and sharpness is very hard with the lens.it would be easy to set it to f/14 at 1:1 - 5:1 and get alot of dof..but this lens seems to have big issues with diffraction softening at high magnifications..because your working distance is so short that can cause problems to..If u get use to it tho its great..not a light lens tho weighing in at just shy of 2 pounds.

Agree with comment on 2nd shot, it is not my favourite - more of a note to those who have a second or 2 to shoot a fly and not time to set up and sit around waiting, especially on travels! But certainly OTT with processing.

As for the MPE-65, yeah they weigh a ton! Non-moving targets from a tripod - a little fiddly but fine. Living things - lots of patience needed - so hats off again! You've got it nailed - how many shots for one keeper? I take loads when I get that lens out! I know it is all about technique, but so many do not make the cut!
