Default timing and honey can get u good shots.

Timing

On a hot sunny day u would think this is the ideal time to shoot insects...Its true there every where when its sunny..but thats when there the most active. The best time to shoot insects is the time where its over cast..1 min the sun is out..the next min it isnt,.Low temperatures and partly cloudy skies can create a “stop and go” environment for some insects..Iv been shooting miner bees for the last week and this is how iv got so close to them..

Honey

To get some great shots i need to be in the right positions..so what iv been doing is getting a leaf about 2inchs x 2inchs then wiping a thin layer of honey on half the leaf..then when i find a miner bee/wasp that cant fly i put the leaf in front of it,it then walks on the leaf and normally wil give u about a good few mins to take some shots..sometimes it wil be feeding for 20 mins..all depends on how they feals.

When the bees and wasps go out feeding on a sunny day..they sit on a leaf feeding on pollen..then the sun goes behind the clouds.if the sun dont come back out in the next few mins its body temperature drops to the point where its impossible for them to fly..This is an ideal time to shoot them//miner bees make awesome subjects and theres alot of them around latey..after i have took the shots i need i put him on my hand..after a few mins warming him self up on my hand he flew off in to the sunset.
