Just seen actually.
At work, I can get

Canon EOS400D
Kit 18-55mm Lense
Tamron 70-300mm F/4-5.6 Lense (says "LD 1:2 Marco" on it, has got a switch from normal to macro)

£422quid It'll cost me

I know the tamron lense isn't a propper MACRO lense but for the cost differense (the cam and kit lense will cost me 355quid) I might has well hae it.

Worthy deal ya think?

i had the Tamron 70 - 300mm didnt like it too much but for the price you cant really grumble , i now use a Sigma 105mm macro which i love!
i also use the tamron 55 - 200mm which for a cheap lens is amazing i used that lens in turkey for all the beasties i shot

We got the 55-200mm Tamron in which I considered, just seems like getting the 70-300mm one gives me more of an overall saving see.

I will say from the messing about I've been doing the 70-300 seemed pretty mint for 80quid and did seem to handle "OK" macros (for the cash)

We're still flogging the 55-200 at 80 quid.
I should be able to get it down to 70... good, or still to much?

No no, I wasn't on about using them AS macro lenses as such... more a case of, "If I'm buying the cam, I might has well get some toys to go with", kinda thing... If I can get the price right etc

Here ya go, perfect example why I thought I might get enjoyment out of Telephoto type lenses sometimes

Right out by where I work, there's a massive factory, makes coffee, chocolate etc

It has these chimney stack things bellowing out steam most days, surrounded by old steel walk-ways and scafold-type scrutures.

Thought that kinda thing would make enjoyable zoom shots for me
