ME and my rig
Last year I bought the rig im using today..The lens im using is special.It allowed me to get super close to the subject(5:1 life size) Its not an easy lens to use by any means.Iv had it for about a year and im just starting to get images that im happy with..Of course this lens would be nothing with out a good flash.
i use canon mt-24ex,what i call "the match made in heaven"This lens and flash goes together like fish and chips.! thing that isnt clever tho is how harsh this macro flash is..With out diffusing this as dalantech would say "its brutal"over the past year dalantech and i have been trying all sorts of plastic,the sten-fen didnt work very well,,tbh the best we got was cutting plastic from a milk bottle and gluing them on to the end of the flash heads..But this wasnt ideal.It had a slight warm glow to the shots and didnt diffuse very well..What we needed was some diffusers that where a bit bigger than the heads and was not attached to the end  After hunting for ages dalantech found a garyfong pop up puffer diffuser [link] which is made to clip on to the pop up flash on slr camars,.he tryed it on the mt-24ex..BINGO! now we have the best lighting possible  Theres me shooting ants last year  Results of my rig..nice diffused even lighting which isnt harsh

that's a cracking insight into you setup, i've just bought a sigma 105 to start getting a bit more serious into macro
can't get over how close you are to that ant! the mrs was taking the mickey out of me today when i was crouch down on the carpet taking pictures of her birthday confetti!

Lovely kit there dude. My mere "kit" is simply a Nikon D40 and the Sigma 105mm. Inexpensive and fun to use!
