Default DSLR advice

In a couple of weeks i will have the cash to get a DSLR ..... I have used SLRs in the past but not digital (me and my pentax were joined at the hip)
I would love some recommendations I am thinking of spending £250/ £300 less would be great though, so will probably opt for a second hand unit ....

I have a Canon 350D which cost me £250 second hand with the usual 18-55mm lens, mini tripod and Lowepro bag.
Never tried using any other DSLR so I'll reccomend it lol

Default Lens Choice

I know this might seem like putting the cart in front of the horse but I'd say the key is not to rely too much on the kit lens. Get a good all rounder as soon as you can afford it. The one I started with was a Sigma 28-300mm. It is by no means perfect glass - but it has a nice range, is really compact and great for travel, and it has 1:1 macro facility which works well. So overall a good starting point. The wide range will limit lens changes at first and save your sensor!

I have an ancient 350D and decided to sort out lenses first and learn the way to use them with a relatively cheap body. Sometime this year I'll take the plunge and buy something more expensive, but I will never get rid of the 350D!

I love my canon 300d, also bought second hand. Check out the classifieds on Talk Photography™ and othe photography sites - you can pick up some great kit there. I love my kit lens too and have taken all my best photographs with it, but I here what Boipe is saying about having an all rounder lens.
Loads of people rave about Nikon cameras too, maybe worth looking at.

I use the Nikon D40. You can probably get that second hand with the kit lens for around £200 or under. I think it's a fabulous camera...
