Eclipse is just that a full black eye that eclipses the iris pattern.
Snake eye is eclipse but it's partial eclipse so shows hald black pigment and half iris pattern.

not necessarily you have snake-eyed eclipse but for example my blazing blizzard is also snake-eyed and this has nothing to do with the eclipse gene. The 'normal' snake-eyed form usually occurs in blizzards and blazing blizzards

Thanks Brenda, this means theres more than one cause (eclipse OR blizzard). Is there any way to tell which is which (without knowing the genetic background of the parents)

The term snake eye applies to both strain of eclipse. That eclipse from tremper line and false eclipse that's common in blizzards.Snake eye is where the black pigments cover half or most of the iris pattern so snake eye is caused by eclipse. It can be very hard the tell the two eclipse gene apart near imposible infact looking at them. There is one clue to tell them apart once you get the nak Tremper strain eclipse have white washed noses false eclipse have standed nose but this can be had to tell on blizzards'etc. But you can work it out with breeding tests as eclipse is recessive so this gene can be pasted on to any leo morph.False eclipse how ever seem fairly random it's common on blizzards and becoming more and more common on mack snow.False eclipse gene only get past onto blizzard and macks for example the normal offspring of such breeding haven't as of yet expressed faslse eclipse wiles there blizzard and mack sibling do if one of the parrent are expressing it.Don't confuse this with super snow black eyes there alway pure black no snake eyes on a super snow and black eye on a super snow is what make a super snow a super snow as super snow don't express iris vaining.
