Hybino - Leopard Gecko Wiki
Hi ppl, i need some help. I read on the leopard gecko wiki that a hybino is a combination of a super hypo with any of the three albino strains. The first pairing would therefore be: Super Hypo (AA) X Albino (aa) Albinism is recessive so these offspring will not show the phenotypic trait of albinism as they are not homozygous recessive. The second pairing would be to breed the offspring giving a 25% chance of producing the Hybino trait. Super Hypo het Albino (Aa) X Super Hypo het Albino (Aa) Giving 25% hybinos with genotype (aa) I dont understand why this gives a hybino and not an albino. How is the hypo trait expressed at the same time if the genes are not co-dominant? If anyone can clear this up for me i will appreciate it. Thanks |

It's expressed in the same way as "homozygous for having two eyes" can display at the same time as "homozygous albino". They're different genes and different gene pairs.
Super Hypo to Albino would be: HHAA (homozygous hypo, homozygous not albino) X hhaa (homozygous not-hypo, homozygous albino) This results in: HhAa (Heterozygous hypo, heterozygous albino). These babies are visual hypos. Breed two together, and you have the following possibilities: hhAA (Homozygous not hypo, homozygous not albino) Visual Normal HhAA (Heterozygous hypo, homozygous not albino) VISUAL Hypo HHAA (Homozygous hypo, homozygous not albino) VISUAL Hypo hhAa (Homozygous not hypo, heterozygous albino) Visual Normal HhAa (Heterozygous hypo, heterozygous albino) VISUAL Hypo HHAa (Homozygous hypo, heterozygous albino) VISUAL Hypo hhaa (Homozygous not hypo, homozygous albino) VISUAL Albino Hhaa (Heterozygous Hypo, homozygous albino) VISUAL Hypo Albino HHaa (Homozygous Hypo, homozygous albino) VISUAL Hypo Albino
