As far as I know, spider is not proven anything but not recessive. By that test, spider is some kind of dominant mutant gene. But in my opinion, whether it's a full dominant or not is still up in the air.
The vast majority of spiders have a spider mutant gene paired with a normal gene (heterozygous spider). Some people have mated spider to spider to try for the homozygous spider (pair of spider mutant genes), but as far as I know, nobody has reported a homozygous spider by breeding test. A homozygous spider may look like a heterozygous spider. Or a homozygous spider may die as a very young embryo, so the egg looks like a slug. Or nobody wants to do the necessary testing. Or something else may be going on. Your guess is as good as mine. Hope this helps. |
