I'd be more impressed if they'd gotten the definition of "heterozygous" correct.

Precisely.
Heterozygous has NOTHING to do with recessive or dominant... it means only one thing: "The two genes of a pair are different."
Homozygous also has nothing to do with recessive or dominant - it means "the two genes of a pair are the same."

A Mack Snow is HET for the co/incomplete dominant Mack Snow gene... a SUPER snow is homozygous for the gene.
A visual Enigma (dominant gene) can be heterozygous or homozygous for the gene; this is why not all Enigmas will produce 100% Enigma offspring.
And of course, an animal who is het for the recessive Tremper Albino gene will not be visually Tremper Albino, but carries the code to make them.

Incidentally:

Both of my Patternless leopard geckos are banana yellow from nosetip to tailbase with white tails - their body colour is NEVER grey or green. They go brownish if they are stressed or cold, with dark grey tails.
My Blizzard gecko is white to grey from nose tip to base of skull, shows some yellow 'blushing' over the white/grey from shoulder to tailbase, and has a white to grey tail. The grey/white head is diagnostic of a blizzard - a yellow-headed gecko is a patternless.

No problem. I always start with the definitions. Because if the definitions are wrong, then the author can't speak the lingo and will inevitably make more mistakes.
