Default Best way to stick a viv together?

Whats the best way to stick the vivarium together? I used screws on the last one but because it was laminated chipboard it made cracks and chips.

I want to get the sort of finish that you get when you buy them. I noticed some dont have any marks, screws or nails - so what do they use thats strong enought?

The viv is only 559x305x330mm so its not big.

What sort of glue would give it a power hold?

Thanks

first i take it you meant millimeter's ?

i have used dowels and wood glue and when it was together i use them little plastic things you see in kitchen cupboards to give it extra strength -

thats how the pros do it (or thats how all my shop bought vivs have been) - on small ones you dont even need the plastic things

Oh i remember these things. Are they not difficult to use when trying to align the wood?

Would be nice to create a perfect vivarium with no marks or holes.

damned right they are!! probably easier if you're the right kit and a very long drill bit but a nightmare with the standard DIY clobber.

These blocks can be a pain to fit as there is very little clearance to get a screwdriver in. One way to get a decent alignment is to place the block against the top side of viv .5mm from the top edge (without top of viv fitted) then push pencil through screw holes to mark where screw will go. Next use centre punch on the pencil mark or nail and light hammer (this will make sure drill does not drift) and drill small pilot hole say 1mm and fit block. Fit viv top and do the same.

It can be a pain doing it but if your not too good with diy you should get good results - practice on some scrap first.

When drilling through chipboard it does help to drill through hole first and countersink hole, if you dont have one use drill bit same size as screw head (by hand) to countersink it, dont use power drivers unless you have low torque setting.
