Hello!

I recently upgraded my two royal pythons viv (4ftx18"x18") and as such am now using a 100w cermaic heater and a 100w red spot bulb.

The question i have is.....

Do i need the red (or any bulb) for the snakes if they are in a well lit room during the day and the ceramic heater warms the viv to the correct temp (day and night)?

I just find it redundant but am not 100% sure what i should do?!

The next question is i am getting my bearded dragon soon. I will be using a 100w T-Rex MVB. Obviously i cant use this at night and it can get very cold round where i live both at winter and summer at night. Do you guys and gals use a ceramic heater just for night time?

So day = MVB
and Night = Ceramic

hiya, the red bulb emits light that reptile cant see so it makes no difference, i use a red bulb 24/7 as it doesnt disturb them at nite and i can still see them the red bulb will be fine for the beardie at night

This is true of an infra-red bulb, but not a normal bulb which has simply been coloured in red.


Ceramic bulbs can be used 24hrs a day (and emit infra-red lightwaves), why not just get a day/night stat?
