Default Berber Skin Viv - Lots of Questions

Hey, i am reseaching on what to get to house a berber skink, i have alot of questions so id thought i would ask them here... my main ones are

- I know 20gallon tank is the min size for them but what size would you recomend? is 20gallon enough? should i go larger?... most id think id be able eto do would be 30....
- Heating (sunlamp ect)... what do you recomend? i know you can get heated rocks but i read that they can be unpredictable (and burn the inhabitants).... should i go for just the light?
- Substrate.... what would be better... sand, or fine gravel? - for the lizard
- Plants... if i were to get say a 20-25gallon tank what type of plant would be suitable? i dont want to accidently buy somthing that will either overgrow the entire tank or make my lizard sick ...

(this is more under care but id thought id add this question too)

- Food, what would be the best combination for food (i cant seem to get pinky mice i will be able to obtain crickets/mealworms (i should be able to raise my own of this) along with fruit ect)...

well thanks! i appreicate any replies... if this is in the wrong section please say so!

I used to have my berber's in a 4 foot tank for the pair. Substrate of sand for them to dig with lots of hides and tubes and such like. Fake plants (one of the only tanks I ever not had real ones in lol)

Heat via a heat lamp on a dimmer stat.

Food wise, they used to get normal livefoods and the occasional pinky.

if you're going for a 'gallon tank' you'd need to make sure you get the right one. When measuring in gallons its calulating the volume of the inside so a 20 gallon could be too short and too high or long and skinny.

it will be around 23 inches by 15 (thats the max size my stand will be able to hold) the hieght will depend on the tank i get ... --- so that would be a 20-30gallon tank..... will that be big enough (for one)?

Once i get him can you recomend a good combo food wise? his diet will probably be mealworms/lettuce but im woundering what else i can add to the mix besides an ocasional banana slice once a month? is there anything i "should" be soaking his food in?... also how many times per week should i be feeding him... every other day? well thanks! i appreicate it
