Default Crestie

I am not the best when it comes to DIY. Hence the reason I get most of my animal stuff pre-made.

Later in the year I'm planning on getting a Crestie (or two) and I'm starting to save up now and pick up bits and pieces so it will hardly affect me financially. Also, I like to have a home ready to roll before the critter gets here.

So far, I've been really impressed with the Exo Terra glass terrariums. Not only from the website and product catalogue but also because I've seen one (with cresties enjoying it) at a friend's home. It's very good, I like the doors and the other features (raised for heat mat, open/close holes for cables etc). But I'm obviously considering all of my options. The exo terra glass terrariums don't seem too expensive considering the quality, but I'd like to hear opinions from people with more experience with glass terrariums. Are there any other good makes that you would recommend for cresties?

Thanks guys and gals!

They are ideal for arboreal lizards, especially geckos. The exo terra's also look amazing planted up, they are very practical have plesent look to them. I have a spare one now, the 60x45x60 (LxBxH). If your after a cheap one, i could possibly sell for 60. It's been used for about a year, but only a snake. I can give it a thorough clean if necessary, Pm me :]

But back on topic, they are ideal. Good Ventilation, and hold the heat well.

Yea, they are great, the only thing youll have to do is to block up the top clip holes to prevent crix escaping and to fill the gap above the polystyrene to stop crix getting behind.

I haven't in the crestie viv because I feed CGD...and any crickets I feed her i do in a separate tub.

In my Fire Bellied Toad viv (Large exo terra) I blocked the gap at the back with a kind of paper mache...i just used wet kitchen roll and pushed it in the space, it dried hard and hasn't moved!

i just ordered one of the special crested gecko enclosures from this site
Screen Cages, Chameleons, Crested Geckos

(its the 2nd one down)

its highly recomended by Anthony Caponetto (a crestie breeder) and i chose it because its lightweight AND its cheap!

That certainly is a great price and if it comes recommended then I do believe it will be great... however, for the price difference I am quite taken by the tiny features which may not be so important to others. Specifically the gap provided underneath for heating. But thanks, it's good to see some other recommended options!

One of the main reasons I'm interested in prices, is because I think I'll be getting a couple. I may be getting two cresties and if so, then I'll want male and female. If that happens, I want to be able to separate them for durations and have comfortable homes for them both. I can get the decent exo terra for only £60 (maybe less for pre-owned) so it's too bad at all. In fact, I've already been offered one in this thread for £60 and it's bigger in length than the one I was originally interested in!

Thanks for the replies! So far, its still Exo Terra that have my interest.

I use a small exo-terra for my single male crestie

Reptile Forums UK - Liam17's Album: Rusty's Exo-terra - Picture

It works a treat, I am building my own larger unit for my soon to be breeding colony. I will be basing it on the exo terra only a larger size. This is purely because it will work out cheaper making my own as my father has a steel/iron fabrication company so we have the materials and tools. And because he makes lamps we can get glass at a nock down price.

i recomned exo-terras though as they are designed for the job
