Default Quick question about Ventilation and Fans

Hi All,

I am currently using an exo terra glass terarium with a mesh top to house my yemen chameleon. I am using this primarily because it was the right size for a baby as I didn't want it to tall to injur herself. I am awaiting on a whole load of repti mesh stuff, that I will use to replace one side and one door panel with.

I will be buildiing her a large corner enclosure that will be situated in our living room that will have plenty of height for her when she is bigger.

However, in the meantime, I was wondering on the merits of getting a reptile fan? I read a couple of things now about people using them for Chammys, but not directly for Veiled.

Any thoughts please? also, any pics or links to them would be helpfull.

Thanks

Kip

Whats a retile fan? Just a regular fan to blow into your enclosure? Sound like they'd increase airflow through the tank but may make it colder depending on power of fan?

I've not actually seen one but was wondering on other peoples experiences with them. Was thinking about maybe putting it a little way away and putting it on a timer.

is this a hatchling?.. they need a little more humidity than adults. i always just slapped them into a 10 gallon tank with a screen lid. i don't see any need for a fan on a neonate. in a short time you'll need some good ventilation as it grows. i've used/use fans. if you want put a small fan on top but with it sucking air out of the cage instead of blowing into it. that'll keep the air from becomming stagnant and have a gentle drying affect. small animals have a much greater surface area than larger ones in relation to size.
