Default what type of glass

im building my bosc a big viv next week and i wanted to know what type of glass you all use when building your own vivs is it tuffend, float, or laminated the glass runners i have are 6 mill

what do vivs in the shops have im sure it wouldnt be laminated or they would cost alot more than they do

wouldnt tuffond glass shatter when slideing the doors shut as it very weak on the edges ,would normal float glass be ok?

Most should be toughened. Laminated would be far too expensive and heavy. Also not sure if you can cut laminated. Shatters nicely though.

You could get away with normal 6mm float depending on the size of viv but would recommend toughened, it wont shatter when closing the doors. You dont need laminated plus it wont fir in the 6mm runners.
Toughened glass is normal float glass that goes through a toughening process and takes about a week, measure the height for glass carefully as if its a long viv could dip by couple of mm in middle. When you get glass cut i would take it home first to see if they fit then return to glazier to be sent for toughening.

6mm Toughened glass would be suitable. Make sure you have the right depth runners for the top rail

thanks for the reply i work for a window company so i can get toughend glass quite cheap the glass runners i have are 6mm so will i need 4mm glass the viv will be 6ft long

i would suggest laminated just incase he decides to hit it it should not shatter! safer for everyone
