Default my viv setup

well finally i have the viv set up, it all got delayed due to having orderd a nice backround over ebay, which still isnt here, so went and got one from the petshop up the road.
the viv is 36" x15"x 15"
it has splash proof tubeholder a 24" 20w reptiglow 2.0 tube in it hidden behind a piece of wood with some of the backround on it to blend in with the viv
it has a habistat twin channel thermostat in case i need to add more heat and at the moment a 17"x 11" heatmat.
it has two analog thermometers one in the warm end and one in the cool end and a hygrometer.
now i will be running the viv to see if i can achieve enough temperature with this, and if need be i can add another heatsource.
i have the sensor of the stat touching the heatmat is this the right way to do it?
once i have everything up and running smooth i will be looking for a subadult corn yay am really excited, the kids already picked a name they want to call the corn noodles, we will have to wait and see once we have one if the name will suit

thank you all, i am particulary proud of my fake rock cave, my first attempt at it and i used poly filler as i had that at home, left it to dry out thoroughly and then painted it and coated it with plasti-kote spray to make water prove and left that to dry for days.

i have a question for the temperature would really apreachiate answers

i have been running the viv a few days now, and with just the heatmat on the stat i cant get the temperature high enough.
so i have now bought an arcardia lampholder with bracket and a compact lamp reflector with protectiv grill to fit on it.
it says that it fits arcadia d3 bulbs.
i already have an exo terra 50w sun glow tight beam bulb here and was wondering if i can use this in the arcadia lampholder.
and how do i controll the temperature with this as i dont think i can use the habistat thermostat with it ? am sure to have read somerthing about dimmers to control the heat from bulbs
any answers apreaciated.
whats the best size bulb (wattage) for a 36"x 15"x 15" to up the temperature a bit and give a basking spot is 50 enough or too much?

sorry for all the questions, but i am really eager to get all this right now so i can start looking for a corn

i would really apreaciate a reply to the "little" heating problem, as this is slightly delaying the search for our new family member

arcadia d3 are compact uv lights arnt they ? if so you wont gain no heat from it......if both heat sources are on a stat you should be able to get the end with mat and spot bulb upto temps quite well if not get a more powerfull heat lamp

thank you for your reply, well i bought the arcardia lampholder with bracket and a compact lamp reflector with protectiv grill to fit on it, and am wondering if i can fit a normal bulb in it to give of heat and what wattage.
knowing me i have bought the completely wrong thing lol, i already have a ceramic bulb holder and reflector , but find that way to bulky for a 15" high viv.
about time i made a plan to build myself just think that hubby wouldnt be too impressed, so better keep drawing plans redraw and get a corn and wait till late summer
