Default mesh?

I have decided that I would like to adapt a piece of antique furniture to make my own chameleon housing. I have yet to buy the bit of furniture since I don't even have the chameleon yet. I'm 'into' recycling and can't see the point of paying loads of squids for a brand new, bog standard, everyone-has-the-same which will look out of place in my old cottage with antique furniture. So, I wonder where I can buy the mesh which will be needed. Any ideas? When I get the chameleon in a couple of weeks time, he will be housed in an exo-terra for the time beings.
I also plan to get a beardie and will be doing the same, adapting some nice bit of furniture to make an attractive, individual and spacious beardie viv'. Possibly from something along the lines of one of the items on my previous post.

You can get all different types of mesh at garden centers often on a big roll and you cut it to size and pay per metre. You get anything from chicken wire style down to the fine stuff used for ponds that birds can't get their beaks through, which is probably the sort most similar to the exo terra flexarium meshing.

I haven't seen a flexarium in the flesh . Perhaps I'll try a reptile shop to see if I can look at one. I doubt chicken wire would do the trick. I need to keep the heat in, yet still be able to see through the mesh of course.
