Default how to extend my viv stack?

this is the one I made earlier this year, by converting an argos bookshelf unit:

now I want to extend it to make it deeper - by making another bookshelf unit and fixing it either to the front or the back of this one.....

this is a question about the practicalities of alternatives!

So can I ask your opinions please - would it be simpler to
  • take off the back panel and fix it to the back, rewiring all the electrics and stats in (a real pain!!)
  • OR
  • take off the front perspex panels and sills, some of which are siliconed in as well as screwed, fix the new bookshelf unit to the front and refix all the doors & sills....
The fixing and 'refurnishing' will need to be done as quick as possible as the reptiles currently in it will be very temporarily housed while it's done then popped straight back in ASAP
