Default Crix eating my background.

Hello Guys,

I've got an Exo-Terra viv with the 3D background on it and over the past couple of days I've noticed that the black crickets I have in the viv are eating away at it.

How can this be prevented? I'm worried about A) the fact that the background is being ruined and B) my frog is soon to eat this crix which are now full of horrible chemicals from the background.

Any ideas?

Robert

A couple of points:

you should not really leave crickets in the viv with the frog, remove any not eaten during "meal time"

it'd also help if you left some form of cricket food in there, pretty much any fresh veg will do, most will prefer to eat that rather than the background.

You could try buying brown crickets i hear there more docile so they might be less inclined to munch on your background

Thanks guys for the advice.

I do try not to leave any crickets in the viv when he's not hungry, under usual circumstances he would demolish them all before they get chance to get away. Unfrotunatly on days like today he's a little stressed after he cleanout and isnt as hungry as usual.

The fresh veg is a very good idea though, I'll stick some salad leaves and carrot in thier and see how they like it.

Brown crickets do seem a little more dosile, the stockest was short on browns this time around so blacks it was.

Cheers guys, I appreciate it.

Robert
