Default Another wood scavenger thread...

...I'm always in and out of the woods collecting different peices. I know about all the ways of cleaning/preparing them etc.

But yesterday I found a beautiful hollowed out log its about 2foot long and 6"diameter. Perfect for the corns viv

Only problem is its riddled with wood worm....Do you think its destined to go back to the woods? or not?

thanks mate. I think I will soak it in boiling water, how long do you leave it in for, and is it 100% safe to put in with the snake after doing this??

I find the wood, scrub it down first with a weak bleach solution then again with washing up liquid. I then soak it for a couple of hrs in boiling water. I then freeze it over night and if my mums not in a blast it in the over lol

Bacteria, but baking in an oven will kill and freezing dramatically slows it down. I believe. and also fungi etc are a risk.
