Obviously there's the issue of over heating but the viv could be about 7ft high, 6ft wide and 3 or 4ft deep so it wouldn't be too much of an issue i don't think. Also if the heat is coming in through the window that'll mean the thermostats will turn down the additional heating and save me money.

There's also a radiator on that wall too which could be boxed off but set to give a low heat during winter, again saving on additional heating.

So.. are there any obvious problems that could occur?
my viv is just opposite a window and get sun in the morning, and as you ssay it is handy as it does some of the heating for you! lol

the only thing id worry about is that it effects your temp gradient, if its shining on your cooler end it cood heat it up and youd have alot warmer ambeint temp... ive had this before were the cool end went up to 29 (basking spot of 36.5) which is abit too hot so i have to make sure i have the windows open in my room to keep the heat down when its sunny.

i'll get a picture of the room so you can see where the window will be as it'll be more in the middle / top of the viv with plenty of room for the cool end to be away from it..
its going to take a bit to sort out so plenty of time to see if the temps get too high. Plus they're new windows and can lock while slightly open to let some air in if needed.

yeh that should be fine then, ive found aslong as you get abit of air circulating thorough the viv (the top on mine is perspex and just lifts off so you can prop corners open to let more air in then its fine....

i wish i could have turned the end of my room into a massive viv but would be a nightmare whn i move out of the rents house, this ones gonna be bad ebough as it is! lol
