Default beardy lighting fixtures

hello there was wondering if any one had any good advice for me, i have built a 2x2x4 vivarium for a bearded dragon,(havent got it yet but would very much like one) ive made it, sealed it, put doors on it, then i started looking into light fixtures as these would have to go inside the vivarium as i have snake and gecko handmade vivs on top, i have searched and searched to no avail, is there any fixing that can be screwed in to the ceiling of my vivarium or am i going to have to remodel, cheers people dippy

Dippy you can buy light fittings that fix to the batten of ceilings commonly known as batten fixings. That is all i use for normal spot bulbs. They are available in edison screw or bayonet fitments as well.If it is the uv tuve then i just drill a couple of small holes and cut and rejoin the wires of the starter unit rather than cutting larger holes for the fitments to pass through.

you could also mount the UV starter unit inside the viv, cut the plug off and drill a hole through for the cable and then put the plug back on.

In addition to the uv light you also need a light fitting for a heat source such for basking area, this can be a low cost spot lamp, a 4x2x2 will need about 100W, for this i recommend a ceramic lamp fitting and heat resistant cable which will withstand high temperatures generated, you should also have a dimming stat to control temperature. I stock the fittings and will send you details of them.

I would not recommend cutting the wires and rejoining them especialy if you have a new controller as if anything goes wrong you will not be covered by garentee,I put the end caps through the vent holes and then attach the vent covers as I think this is safer than cutting wires,I mount the uv tube on the back of a viv this size,as you want the tube about 12" above where the reps are most of the time to get max effect,so the roof of the viv is to far away unless you have platforms in the viv.
