Hi all,

I'm going to be installing a second socket into my Beardie's 4 ft viv this weekend, as it takes several hours to warm up. However, they will both be on the same dimming thermostat.

Obviously, I'd like the basking light (which is 100W) to be in the hotter end, but also have the ceramic heater come on to warm it up a bit faster.

Is there any way I can ensure that they both come on, but that the basking light is the 'priority' of the 2?

EDIT: The ceramic heater would probably only be a 40w or 60w one...

...anyone?

100w should be ok in 4ft but if its not heating up fast enough i would fit a 150w bulb or ceramic heater in the one you have rather than fit a second one and have two running.

OK, ta - so you'd suggest NOT using the 100W basking light and a 40w ceramic? Just a 150W basking light?

Yep just use 150w, dimmers stat will control temp anyway, are you using digital thermometer with probe as the temp dial on dimmer stat is only a guide, you need to make sure basking area is correct temp first.
