Default mat stats

just making a mini rack(for 6 hatchlings-yearlings) someone told me about using 1 mat stat with 3 mats. I know the mat stat can take it as its 100w and the 3 mats only add up to 45.

Question is do you see any problems with 3 mats in a rack with the centre one probed to control them all, i know there will be slight differences in the mats but it should be pretty close

Any ideas?

Shouldn't be a problem as long as the mats are the same size and made by the same company.

If you were using large boxes then you probably be better of with a stat per level, but with hatchling tubs 3 high, the difference in height between the top and bottom isn't going to be enough to make a great difference.

yeah the mats are the same size and manufacturer, the boxes are on the slighly larger size for hatchlings 400x280x140mm for 4 of them and possible 3 smaller 330x200x120mm on the top shelf(instead of another two of the others on top)

Basically the racks 2ft wide by 18inches high

im going to check all the temps when set up to see the range of the three, but i just wanted to check the theory of it

It's a fair difference in size with the boxes - may make a difference (especially if they're made differently, particularly the base of the box) but the only way to tell is to give it a thorough test for a couple of days.

i probably will get 6 the same, thinking about it as most of mine are the same size, so it makes more sense. The boxes im looking at are the ones with the black click over handles
