Default Sea view - aquarium background sealer

Just wondering if anyone has used this before. I picked some up yesterday when I got a new background to put inside my velvet geckos viv and the bloody stuff didn't work. (I've been having a problem with mould and came to the conclusion that it wasn't ventilated well enough so put a new vent in while I was at it.) It said on the packet that it worked on aquariums and acrylic, and as my viv is lined with acrylic glass to stop the humidity affecting the wood, I thought this would be fine.

When I realised that the stuff wasn't sticking, I tried to use double sided sticky tape, but this wouldn't stick either as the sea view had made everything all slimey, so I've ended up using aquarium sealant underneath the background which takes ages to dry properly.

George and Matilda are now very annoyed with me as they do not appreciate their temporary accomodation. A job that I thought would take a few hours (including time to dry) has so far taken 24.

The moral of the story: Don't complicate a simple job by using fancy products which cost too much (£3 something for a little bottle) and don't work anyway.
