Default Stack backing

I'm currently designing a stack that I intend to build myself. I'll be using 15mm white contiboard (I like the clinical look!) and I want to know what will be suitable to use for the back. More conti will whack the cost up a fair bit and make it weigh an absolute tonne.

I'd prefer something white really, although I guess I could paint it white to seal it. The top vivs will be housing humidity loving species so its needs to be able to deal with moisture.

If you guys could give me some info and ideas that would be sweet

get some hardboard and line with vinyl tiles? Seal the joins with aquarium sealant. But contiboard is probably cheaper

Depends on how high and big your stack will be, a solid back can make the stack very rigid, hardboard is not as good nor it is as water resistant as conti.

Well looking on B&Q's site it seems to be cheaper to use 18mm conti as there will be less waste. The lengths, widths etc are bang on.

I take it I'd need to prepare the ply before use by painting or whatever?
