Default Appropriate vivarium?

for a Burmese Python? Would yor standard viv set up be suitable for the first year or so for a Burmese, 6mm Glass on runners to a 4ft wide viv? or would a different housing method be needed? Also whats the best heat sources to use for Burmese, Red incandescent bulbs or ceramics?

A believe (and i'm no brume xpert here!) that a yearling burm can reach a length of 6ft possibly a little more so for the first year a 4*2*2ft viv would probably do just fine (i wouldn't go any less anyway).

After that your looking at his final viv which should be at least 3ft in depth. A adult burm coiled is bigger than 2ft so I think you really need the 3ft. As for the length of the viv I would say 6ft is a min' 8ft is a max and then 2ft for height.

The more space a burm has the more territorial it can get so having more space is apparently not always the best esp' if it come out for regular expercise anyway.

As for heating I always believe ceramics are best for heating regaurless of species, lizard or snake so maybe i'm not the bext to ask

You may want to re-consider the glass, I have heard of adult boas going through 5mm glass (was over the internet mind so believe it if you like!), and an adult burm gets bigger and hits harder!

If you want to be safer get 6.4mm laminated which is pretty much unsmashable.

Are you sure it went through it???

6.4mm Glass has a layer of plastic through the middle to stop it falling apart when it breaks. I've thrown bricks at it and hit it with a sledge hammer and never actually got through it.

Was it not just 6mm toughened glass??

I've smashed 6.4mm toughened glass before, I hit it with a table leg (some mates and I had a bet on who could break it first) so if I can do it, I don't doubt a very large snake can do it
