So, I'm looking at making a terrarium or vivarium in a 20 gallon fish tank this weekend. I plan on doing it in two phases. First I'm going to put the plants in it and make sure they're going to stay alive.
I've had bad luck with plants in the past. Specifically about four cacti that I repotted after getting, they all died within a month. The only one that's still alive is one that hasn't been repotted. These were some expensive cacti..I digress, back on topic.
I need to know what plants are not safe for reptiles or amphibians. There won't be any predatory plants included.
I'm looking at amphibians that I can include in it that don't need an open body of water to live comfortably. Or reptiles that can go in it. I'm very antsy about the idea of putting something in it that's going to get out of the cage, because we have six dogs. It would quickly become a snack.
I've considered anoles or geckos, in particular tokay geckos (If that's how you spell it). I know tokay geckos are very aggressive, but this is only to look pretty. As I described them they're demonically fast, aggressive, and have razor sharp gums. Any other suggestions would be appreciated.
I've read through this guide:
Amphibiancare.com >> Tropical Terrariums For Reptiles and Amphibians and am looking for others on google as well as looking at other people's work. If anyone has any tips for me I'd greatly appreciate it.
Thank you all very much!
