Default viv info needed

hi all.

in the upcoming year or two, i am after getting 2 madagascan giant day geckos. i have read caresheets, i'm just checking with experienced owners.

i know the required dimentions of the viv, but am unsure of the decor. if anyone has any experience in housing these animals, advice would be greatly appriciated.

thanks in advance.

hey we just got a pair. It's better to have the height than the floor, for starters. The substrate should be moss and/or bark, to keep up humidity (it should always be damp, not wet, and no condensation up the glass) live plants are good, sanseveria is great. I use cola bottle caps taped to the glass high up for calcium, and bits of fruit. For climbing I give them bamboo (twice their width so fully supporting them), and have rubber wood (bare indian wood) branches also, and some bark. They have a heat mat (outside the viv, on the wall), a basking bulb (inside, one corner of viv) a UV strip (5.0minimum, inside is better, running across both cold and hot parts). I also have a water fountain, helps keep the humidity up, but a dripper maybe easier.. I also have loads of plastic plants for hiding places and moss in a pot just in case..

Plenty of glass cleaner , ours were really nice we had a breeding trio, ours were in a 3ft high, 3ft widex 2ft deep viv, loved organic baby food, but always pooed on the glass, never laid in nesting areas, always stuck in little cracks in wood etc

beautiful things
