Default Lino in a Leo viv

Looking to use lino in all the vivs for our leos. Just wondering if it's ok for the heatmat to go underneath the lino.

yep the heatmat will be fine....................we have lino or cork tiles on top of our heat mats, and they are both fine.

yep... your heat mat should be on a stat so it won't get hot, just warm.

Default lino!!!

I have a stack coming and am planning to use a lino type thing in the vivs.am considering self adhesive vinyl floor tiles...although wont the heat dry up the glue and cause tiles to come loose? they are only 1mm thick so surely it will get very hot through that?

Dont all heatmats come with inbuilt thermostatically controlled sytem?or else they would just heat and burn out wouldnt they? i will not have matstats in all my vivs. i do have them on couple of vivs but dont really understand them to be honest. the probe is set in middle of tank so doesnt that mean that the heatmat is working extra hard trying to heat the middle of the tank which is doesnt have the power to do?

sorry for all the questions but i would appreciate someone helping me.thanks alot, lee

The thermostats are there to regulate the temperature keeping it at what it's set to be, Most heatmats go well over 100F without a stat making them unsafe without one.

Place the probe ontop of where the heatmat is or otherwise your mat will get too hot because it will be trying to heat the middle of the tank leaving you with not a very good heat gradient.
