Question Paint

When making your own Viv, what sort of paint can be used to paint the viv ?

I used normal wallpaint then varnished it with Yatch varnish

I also have used a spray can colour (undercoat first!) Varnish again.

Does yacht varnish hold the fumes in? i used something that somebody recommeneded and you can still smell it 8 weeks later.
