Default Can I use fibreglass for background?

Hi all

I am thinking of making a viv for water dragons and was wondering if I can use a fibreglass mating over wire mesh as a background. If this is not a problem what paint can I use for the fibreglass.

Many thanks

fiberglass is fine, paint it with pond paint and let it dry for as long as you possible can so there are absolutly no traces of fumes left.

I am not sure about acrilic, it may give off fumes when heated, to be extra safe I would cover with several coats of Yacht varnish

make sure you use enuf setter for the glass, because if you dnt mix it well the gel coat and resin can stay wet under neath as i was a refinisher for train doors and bus parts...

just be carefull with where you do this as it gives off bad flumes...

I started to do this with my water dragon viv too, but gave up in the end and ripped it all out. I couldn't get it to look realistic enough. in the end I used spray on poystyrine foam carved into rocks and ledges, then coated with a lot of layers of tile adheasive. that worked very well, and is actuly much tougher than I expected. she, nor the crickets have damaged it at all.
