Is there any glazier shops near you? Glass can be hard to send in post as it can crack and break easily.

Rather than go with 10mm toughened glass you may be better of going with laminated. It does the same job but does have a little more strength to it and if it does crack at any stage then the lamination still holds it together

10 mm toughened glass may be also heavy to slide on. 4mm is ok for that size and it will also fit in the runner's great. Lamanated glass will also be ok but tight in standard runner also you will have to have the edge taken of lamanated glass or it will cut as it has a sharp edge where as toughened glass has a smooth edge ok and dont cut...........Brian

Thanks for the replies guys, i should have said that i am not having sliding doors but a hinged lid and i am going to router the wood instead of using runners as the glass is going to be windows that are easy to remove. this is going to be my first try at building a viv so fingers crossed (once i decide on the final build design that is :P)

Anything over 6mm is overkill IMO...

Unless it is a large pane (over 1000x2000mm) and is for a 15ft+ snake, or a 6ft+ monitor...

For that size, i cannot see anything under 14ft (snake), or 5ft(lizard) breaking it!
