Question heat cables?

ok so i am building a stack for leos and saw that some people use heat cables. what is everyones take on these? i'm wondering if they are any good as would reduce the amount of plugs as you would run jus one cable through it.

of corse if i did use it then it would be tiled over (i always tile over heat mats so would of corse do the same) but i'm thinkin it may not work so well, or would it?

Whats everyones thoughts on the subject please? need help to make up my mind before i get to the point of sorting the heating out

Heat cables work pretty well but if you are making a rack then i would suggest you use heatmats as this gives you more contol as you would run it with a few stats whereas the heat cable has one plug only allowing you to use one stat. This means some levels may be hotter than others.

i put my sensor on the hottest level.
The others are only a few degrees less so it works out ok

but i was told that only need one stat as they would all be the same conditions so will all be plugged into the one (its how my friend does it in her corn stack)

spo if i got mats, ther would be 5 mats plugged into 1 stat, but if i got a cable, then jus the one cable plugged into the one stat

if your only using 1 stat then it makes no difference which option you go for.

well all i was thinkin was that the cable would be easier, but would it heat ok?or would it give patchy heat as the cable cant touch itself i read so, you just loop it?

you loop it and use thermo tape (aluminium tape) underneath it and they heat well. You just tape the cable down onto a shelf or whatever
It gives off loads of heat.
If you keep it fairly even on each level you should have a roughly even amount of heat.
