Probably frowned upon but I use Repti cage carpet from ZooMed, and my leopard gecko loves it. You can cut it to size, and I have one down and one being washed/dried. Cage is much easier to keep clean and keeps any smells to a minimum. Although he is a clean boy, he is not a fast eater and any live food tends to leave it's waste products everywhere and this bedding alternative solved my problem. I use calcisand for my beardie and T-Rex Sani-chips for my corn snake.

Never use Calci-sand for a leo, or for that matter any small gecko. Depending on age I would use:

Baby - Juvenile - Kitchen Roll or Newspaper
Adult - Fine grade play sand, from exo terra..

Calci-sand is known to severely impact geckos, and they end up dying!

Edited to say, I keep mine on repti-carpet and have done for 3 years. My male kept getting his hemipenes stuck on sand, so I thought it was about time I dont something about it.
