Hi.
I was wondering the best way to heat an exo-terra viv for day and night? I have 2x 26watt for light and 1x 75watt for a hotspot, but was wondering the best way to heat especially for the night. I have a 25watt moonglo but thats not going to give off much heat. The room is usually quite warm but will be cold at night. I am going to put a heater pad in the bottom to warm the substrate and increase humidity. Also what about hides? Do I need hides if the carpet is gonna be basking on a branch? Cheers John

is the exo terra glass or plastic or ...?
what size? Carpet pythons normally do well without trying to control humidity. Having a substrate is a good idea - I use newspaper. Assuming you have a smallish plastic container (?) a heat mat on a thermostat is probably sufficient. Branches and a couple of hides are needed. A hide just needs to have just enough room for the snake, be cleanable or throw away, and no sharp edges. toilet roll tubes are great for small snakes, or margarine tubs etc.
