It really depends on if the viv cannot be bigger than your measurements, how thick the wood is that you're going to use and whether you are going to use a thin panel for the back or the same wood as the rest of the viv.

Wait until your viv is built then measure for the glass.

You will need 2 pieces 58 1/4"x 2ft (sides)
2 pieces 3ft x2ft (top and bottom)
2 pieces 34 3/4" x 5" (lips, top and bottom)
1 piece 58 1/4" x 34 3/4" (back)
Those measurements are allowing for you using 5/8" (15mm) thick melamine.

the back is placed inside the viv, flush with the edge of the sides and top/bottom, and screwed in from the sides... This is a far stronger and better way of fixing it IMO..

As long as the back is cut square it also pretty much guarantees the viv will be square too.

yeah that is the important bit, MAKE sure the viv is square, or the glass wont close properly... To get it squaremeasure diagonally from one corner to the other. Check the measurement and then measure across from the opposite corners, when the 2 measurements are correct, your viv is square.
