After many years (15yrs)of keeping marine fish have decided to break the tank down and sell off the contents. Due to ill health I am finding it hard work with the maintenance side of things IE water changes etc. So I have decided to take the plunge with a planted vivarium after reading various books on keeping frogs etc. A few questions i need answering if possible are:-
1. my tank is 60"x20"wx24"h will that be suitable (do not want to change it really as it fits into an alcove in the wall and there is no carpet underneath it). 2. As it is an open top tank what could I use a lid as I have been told that glass is a no no. 3. If it was yours how would you set it up and what would you use. I have numerous filters but was thinking of using the fluval 105 for a water feature. Which I could place under the tank in the cupboard and bring the pipes up through the corner overflow. 4. What could I keep in the tank that would be awake through the day as well as the frogs. 5. Would it be beneficial to run actinics in the evening. Sorry for so many questions but it has been a bit of a minefield searching through the web. Thanks |

If you want a nice visual piece, look at darts frogs. Could have a lovely group in that size tank.
Not that hard to keep, as long as you can culture fruit flies. Also means totally natural tank which look stunning. Not sure if allowed to plug other forums, pm me if want to know the dart sites to check out. Chris |
