Im looking to build a new house for my little gecko, i plan to get another one in there, at the moment its in a glass tank, which is fine, but its just over 1ft long, and with his food dish, hide and water dish, there's not much room to have a wander about.

Im a dab hand at woodwork, and have the tools, but what sort of price can i expect to be paying for the materials?

I want something thats: w=20" h=12"(1ft) l=13" with sliding glass doors. Id need to use chipboard that has the laminated (wood effect) cover on it right? The stuff that bedroom furniture is usually made from.

The lighting is not a problem at this stage, i just plan to build it first. I will get the U.V and other stuff afterwards.

for the wood about a tenner from B&Q, they'll even cut it to size, for that size an 8*2 or even a 6*2 sheet of contiboard should do it.
Although it might be worth adding about £2 to that for the backing as you might not have enough wood left over for that but i can't be bothered working it out

runners, couple of quid from Ebay / vivbuilder.co.uk / pollywog.co.uk. Possibly around £20 for glass depending on thickness, 4mm, 6mm, toughened, polished edges etc etc. That depends on your local glazier though.

You could go slightly bigger to get the best value for money on the wood but then glass would cost you a bit more.
