With such small vivs it can be hard to get a big difference. What temps are you getting atm? Might help people to know what exactly the problem is - i.e. whole viv too hot, whole viv too cold, one end right but other only 1 degree different...

Also (you probably know but just in case) how/where are you measuring the temps? As heatmats don't really heat the air you need to have the probe touching the surface.

What is a 'ksb'? What temps do you want? Sounds like the heat mat is too big as it's heating most of the viv. Also the mat is not getting hot enough. Your room temp outside the viv will also have a bearing. I tend to use ceramics as it provides a basking spot and a better gradient but to be honest I don't measure the temp at the cool end. The only important temps are measured under the lamp. I like to provide a Day Time High, so that the snake can't overheat. A Night Time Low so the snake will bask under the lamp on a night, that way you can be sure the snake will have the correct temps during brumation.

Hope this helps.

ksb is a kenyan sand boa ground dwelling snakes which like to burrow
the mat is only covering a quarter of the viv hot and temps a little to low for the ksb but ok for the hoggie just cant get a localised basking area with out the other end of the viv getting up to high
